Destination Wedding: Things to Consider

When it comes to choosing a destination wedding, there are plenty of things you need to consider other than just your budget. This is why you need to be careful of planning your destination wedding. You need to see to it that your fiancé is in agreement with you on where you will be having your wedding.

If you recently got engaged and would like to have a destination wedding, here are some things to consider so you can choose your venue:

Budget
Before proceeding, make sure that you and your fiancé are able to agree to a budget and stick to it. With so many places where you can have your wedding, you need to be sure that the one you choose fits your budget.

Decide
Once you have talked about the budget, list down the possible venues that you are interested in. You may have possibly talked about the idea while you were both still dating. In order for you to make sure you have your dream destination, list down your ideas and compare notes.

Availability of Destination

The moment you have decided on a venue, see to it that you book your date already. You will need to do this at an early time so that you don’t go through any inconvenience during the later part of your wedding planning.

Availability of Suppliers

Another thing you have to be careful about is that when you are dealing with a destination wedding, you won’t have access to the suppliers of the area. This is why you will most likely work with suppliers that are amenable to providing their services in advance or can go to your destination wedding.

A good idea is to visit a bridal show where you can meet wedding planners and suppliers alike. There, you can talk about your wedding details and see if they may be able to help you. Check out our upcoming bridal show events so you can join and start meeting people!

How to Handle Unsolicited Advice About Your Wedding

As soon as you got the ring, you probably also got advice about your wedding. Friends and family have no doubt bombarded you with advice about what you should do, what you must do, and what they did.

Handling this unsolicited advice is tricky. You don’t want to offend, but you also want to make clear that you really don’t need their help. It’s often best to be polite, and simply say that you’ll keep their advice in mind.

While they could offer you helpful information -- such as great vendors that they highly recommend -- their advice might just be unhelpful. It is also often worth reminding them that this is your big day, not theirs. Be tactful, but strong.

The best way to respond to unsolicited advice, though, is to have your planning under way. A great way to get your planning started -- and finished -- is to attend one of our Southern California bridal shows. To find out more about upcoming shows and to buy tickets, visit our site today!

Three Ways to Be a Great Wedding Guest

If you're planning your own wedding, you might be focused on your nuptials. When you're also invited to other weddings, it can be a struggle to turn off the wedding planning part of your brain. Here are three ways to be a great wedding guest.

  1. Don't compare! When you attend a friend's wedding, you might want to compare what she's done with what you have planned. Try to leave the comparisons for when you get home, though. Instead, just enjoy the day.
  2. Don't talk about your wedding! Focus on the couple of the day, the same way you'd want to be the focus on your big day. Even if you'll have guests in common, keep the day focused on the newlyweds.
  3. Learn what you can about the guest experience. You want to make your wedding as great for your guests as possible. When you attend other weddings, take note of what made you feel special, welcome, and a part of the day. After the wedding, think about how you can build these elements into your wedding.
Of course, the best way to be an excellent wedding guest while planning your own wedding is to get all your planning done with Southern California's best wedding vendors. A great way to do this is to come to one of our upcoming bridal shows!
