Planning the Perfect Spring Wedding

Spring is the perfect season for new beginnings. It is also the perfect time to celebrate the wedding of you and your husband (or bride) to be. When you think of spring, you think of flowers blooming, the sun shining, and the sound of wedding bells. Flowers are the key element to a stunning spring wedding. Here are some tips for planning the perfect spring wedding:

1. Spring showers

The saying goes, "April showers bring may flowers." If you are planning a spring wedding, don't let the rain deter you. You can still throw a beautiful spring wedding despite the chance of rain. If you dream of having your wedding outside you can find a wedding vendor that can provide a tent for your big day, just in case things do get a bit rainy. If you opt for an indoor wedding, you can find a place where the décor has a whimsical feel that can be decorated in an enchanted way. The more flowers the better if you are throwing your spring wedding indoors.

2. Pick your colors

Many brides choose to go with pastels for their wedding. The soft colors are perfect for a spring wedding theme. You can also give a twist to the traditional pastel palette and add contrasting colors. Lime greens, corals, and dark browns pair great with muted tones. You can also choose brighter, bolder, and more vibrant colors.

3. The Décor

When decorating for a spring wedding, the flowers are the focus. You can accent your tables with fresh and colorful floral arrangements. A tiered cake topped with real or faux flowers adds the perfect spring touch to your reception. When choosing the venue, a place that has natural beauty, like a beach or garden, is the perfect setting.

4. Dress the part

Spring is the perfect time to where light chiffons and lace gowns that are reminiscent of a Midsomer’s Night Dream. Many brides are choosing to go a more non-traditional route with their dress. This is the perfect time to choose a dress with a hint of color. Baby pinks and light minty greens are perfect for this season.

How to Handle Unsolicited Advice About Your Wedding

As soon as you got the ring, you probably also got advice about your wedding. Friends and family have no doubt bombarded you with advice about what you should do, what you must do, and what they did.

Handling this unsolicited advice is tricky. You don’t want to offend, but you also want to make clear that you really don’t need their help. It’s often best to be polite, and simply say that you’ll keep their advice in mind.

While they could offer you helpful information -- such as great vendors that they highly recommend -- their advice might just be unhelpful. It is also often worth reminding them that this is your big day, not theirs. Be tactful, but strong.

The best way to respond to unsolicited advice, though, is to have your planning under way. A great way to get your planning started -- and finished -- is to attend one of our Southern California bridal shows. To find out more about upcoming shows and to buy tickets, visit our site today!

Three Ways to Be a Great Wedding Guest

If you're planning your own wedding, you might be focused on your nuptials. When you're also invited to other weddings, it can be a struggle to turn off the wedding planning part of your brain. Here are three ways to be a great wedding guest.

  1. Don't compare! When you attend a friend's wedding, you might want to compare what she's done with what you have planned. Try to leave the comparisons for when you get home, though. Instead, just enjoy the day.
  2. Don't talk about your wedding! Focus on the couple of the day, the same way you'd want to be the focus on your big day. Even if you'll have guests in common, keep the day focused on the newlyweds.
  3. Learn what you can about the guest experience. You want to make your wedding as great for your guests as possible. When you attend other weddings, take note of what made you feel special, welcome, and a part of the day. After the wedding, think about how you can build these elements into your wedding.
Of course, the best way to be an excellent wedding guest while planning your own wedding is to get all your planning done with Southern California's best wedding vendors. A great way to do this is to come to one of our upcoming bridal shows!

Did You Begin Planning Before Engagement?

Wedding planning before engagement has become a big trend, with a recent survey showing that 59 percent of single women have already started. This follows on a survey earlier in the year that showed that 40 percent of brides admitted to visiting wedding websites before the proposal.

The reason for this early planning is generally an attempt to reduce stress, but it doesn't always work that way. Some women have also said that they've scared off previous boyfriends because of their early planning. Early planning can also get you too locked into a set idea of what your wedding has to be. This can leave you without flexibility that can leave your fiance feeling left out and you feeling frustrated.

One surefire way to reduce the stress of wedding planning is to come to a Bridal Showplace show. You'll be able to meet some of Southern California's best wedding vendors all in one place, meaning you can get lots of planning done in a single day. Planning a Black Tie Wedding

If you're planning a Southern California wedding, you might be thinking about a vintage theme, DIY theme, or any other big trend. Of course, you could also be thinking that this is the perfect time to have a glamorous black tie event!

To bring the fabulous formality of the Oscars to your wedding day, you'll need to treat it like any other theme. However, you'll also want to make sure that any of your wedding vendors are comfortable and experienced with a high-end style.

Unlike many other themes, black tie will require your guests to dress in a specific way. With your guests in formal attire, keeping everything else in theme is even more important. You won't want your guests -- or yourself -- to feel like you're overdressed for the occasion at any point.

A great way to meet some of Southern California's best wedding vendors is to come to a Bridal Showplace show. To find out about upcoming shows, or about our exhibitors, visit our site today!
